A tiny baby needs your prayers

handsoflife.jpgConner Lee Jackson isn’t “supposed” to be born until March 15, 2008. His mom is Amy, a former ministry kid via Phil’s Cafe who came to Christ Church for a number of years, and his dad is Kris.

I just spent an hour on the phone with Amy who is in the hospital on bed rest because her water broke on Monday and she’s pretty realistically scared by her situation. She knew I’d been there with Tim, and we had a good conversation about what preemies are like. She knows little Conner will be here soon, but that the longer that takes the better off he’ll be. She’s had all the appropriate medical interventions – they’re guarding against infection, helping his lungs, and keeping her as stress free as one can be laying flat in a hospital bed wondering if your baby is going to be ok. All Amy wants for Christmas is a healthy baby boy.

Please pray that Conner’s lungs develop quickly, that he gains weight appropriately, that Amy and he are protected from infection, and that he is born without further complication and healthy. If you would like to send a note of prayer and encouragement to a family who can really use it, please email it to me by clicking here.

This life you have given is so tiny, fragile, and vulnerable,
safe in the womb of flesh and hope, yet subject to danger and death.

O God of love, creator of life, hear our prayer.

We want this baby so much. Please grant this child a full measure of nurture, the joy and mystery of life, and the blessing of your love.

Grant us the fulfillment of our dreams, and of your purpose, a baby to cherish and protect, a child to teach and guide, a blessing to his family and to your kingdom.
