Today was a big day in the continuing saga of “customer service” with Xbox. First, I spoke to the agent handling my charge card dispute. She was quite helpful, and advised returning the shipment to Xbox via a method with a signature or tracking number, which I thought was wise. Second, the box arrived from Xbox repairs. Third, I think my letter faxed to Mr Bach (President of Microsoft’s Entertainment Division) got received because an email showed up:
This email is to confirm we have received your email regarding your Xbox experience. My name is Jessica and I will be contacting you in the next 2 business days via phone number [my home number] to discuss your experience and work toward a resolution.
Thank you for your patience and I will look forward to speaking with you soon,

So, still (actively) waiting for long-overdue and ridiculously-resisted bona fide customer service.
