Erwin asked me to tell you this

I did an interview this afternoon with Erwin McManus, the pastor of Mosaic in LA, in connection with his new book Wide Awake.  The book is great (and it’s looking at you from the picture on the right), and the interview and a review are forthcoming on YMX, but here’s the message Erwin McManus asked we spread around:

We’ve learned that Barnes and Noble is displaying Wide Awake at the front of their stores.  I’d love to ask people to buy the book from them, as a way to say thanks to this big, secular company for just wanting to get people involved in the spiritual conversation.

So, if you’re interested in the book anyway (and you should be!), why not pick it up as a holiday weekend read from your local Barnes and Noble store?  And, please tell your friends the same.  And, at B&N, tell them Erwin McManus sent you to say thanks.

I bought my copy last week at Borders because I had some extra money on a Borders gift card… and they had the book in the back of the store… but maybe now that they have the money from my Borders gift card they can pay Stan who is the guy who moves things from the back of the store to the front of the store. Stan’s a good guy, if he actually exists, I mean. I mean I’d assume that Stan’s a good guy, but really… maybe he isn’t, because after all, if he’s willing to work for a few bucks off of a Border’s gift card maybe there’s something shady about him. In which case Pete should really be the best bet to move the book from the back of the store to the front of the store. Just so long as Stan doesn’t get fired, because I’d imagine Stan has two dogs to support whereas Pete (I imagine, if he exists) only has one. Not to say that Pete’s dog wouldn’t count, but if Stan has two they should count a bit more, even if Stan has a shady past. Because that shouldn’t affect his dogs. For all we know, they’re actually quite nice.

Anyway, like I was saying, I bought my copy of the book last week.
