First time in a long time

Since 1998 I’ve spent the Friday-Monday of the Martin Luther King, Jr holiday weekend at Excel, a high school student conference presented by Capital District Youth for Christ.

That first year I was about to sign on to the CDYFC staff and was there helping with whatever came up. From 1999 to 2002 I was a part of the Excel planning team, working year round on getting various thematic-programmatic aspects of the conference in place, while then and in ’03-’06 leading a group of students at the conference and sometimes teaching seminars for either students or youth ministers. In 2007 I was working in the exhibit booth for Christ the King Center and Beaver Cross Camp, where I was the director of their Center for Youth Ministry. Also in ’07, I had the last minute and great fun opportunity to work with CDYFC’s Spiritual Development Director, Ray Lightcap, in leading a round table for youth workers – that was a super encouraging time!

For the first time in a long time, I’m not going to be at Excel this year. It feels kind of strange, to be honest.
