NYWC Friday – Part 2

All I can say is Tony Campolo is usually fun for me, a challenge, but I love him. He’s about what he’s about! He said, “Some people say I’m a liberal. I’m as conservative as the Word of God and as liberal as the love of God.” That’s classic Campolo.

But… Tonight, I honestly felt wounded by some of the words. I need to process it so I don’t say it wrong.

I’ll do the highlights of the general session:

1. Starfield leading worship… fantastic.
2. Dave the Horm Guy… HILarious.
3. more illusions
4. performance by downhere… remember, “Rock stars need money”
5. pic with Mark from downhere… :)

OK, more later.

    Patti,
I had to stop going to listen to Tony years ago because I’d walk away with a false guilt. (that and the urge to kill my pets and repent in ashes).

I had to realize that some people need the type of bomb that Tony delivers to get them out of complacency. I didn’t. So I stopped listening to him so I didn’t get blown up.

    Wish I was there,

    Ruth

I wish you were here too! The normal Campolo bombs don’t usually bother me much. This felt different… tried to explain in the new post.

I love how you described him Ruth, the idea of false guilt.
That describes why I didn’t like/connect with his seminar in Cincy on Spiritual Depth in teens. I left feeling crappy because I wasn’t practicing all these spiritual disciplines, while in reality, they aren’t me and hearing a challenge about them isn’t where I was at that morning.

Patti! I’m so glad you are blogging this so I can relive some of Cincy!
